Getting started
Ordinary label editing and local export run in your browser without an account. Optional cloud saves upload designs and saved rows; API calls send their inputs to the service. Limited automatic diagnostics and hosting metadata also reach the service. See the Privacy Policy for details and reporting choices. This page takes you from a blank label to a printed sample.
1. Pick your label size
Section titled “1. Pick your label size”Open the editor and click the size button in the top bar. The
catalog covers DYMO, Zebra/Rollo, Brother, MUNBYN and Niimbot rolls, Avery
laser sheets, and round and oval die-cut stock — search by product code (e.g.
30252, DK-1201, 5160) or browse by printer family on the label sizes
page. If your stock isn’t listed, Custom size takes any
dimensions in inches or millimeters, with a DPI selector to match your
printer (most thermal printers are 203 DPI).
The canvas is built at your printer’s exact dot resolution — a 4×6” thermal label at 203 DPI is an 812 × 1218 dot surface. Use the actual resolution of your printer and test output; firmware, media and print settings still matter.
2. Add content
Section titled “2. Add content”The toolbar (left on desktop, bottom on phones) adds:
- Text — 50+ fonts, line height, letter spacing, and fit modes that shrink text to its box automatically.
- Barcodes — 18 symbologies (Code 128, EAN-13, UPC-A, Code 39, ITF-14, Codabar, MSI, GS1-128, Data Matrix, PDF417, Aztec and more) with live input validation. Barcodes use whole-dot modules. A successful render does not guarantee scanning, identifier ownership or standards compliance.
- QR codes — URL, WiFi login, vCard, email, phone, SMS, or location, with selectable error correction.
- Shapes, images, tables — a shape and border library, logo upload, and grid tables with editable cells.
3. Print
Section titled “3. Print”Three ways, from most to least direct:
- Direct print (Zebra printers): Export → Direct print — Zebra agent opens printer setup and lets you send ZPL to a compatible printer. Follow the Mac setup walkthrough or direct-print connection guide.
- ZPL file: Export → ZPL downloads a
.zplfor a compatible ZPL-speaking printer. Review the output and warnings before sending it. - PDF: Export → PDF gives a file at the selected label dimensions for a compatible printer’s print dialog. Always print at 100% scale — never “fit to page”.
Print one label and test-scan any barcode before a production run.
Starter templates are examples. Replace sample text, addresses and identifiers. BarcodeStack does not purchase postage or certify food, safety or other regulated labels. Confirm the destination and total copy count before printing; do not retry blindly if a connection fails after a job may have been sent.
