Frequently asked questions
If you have anything else you want to ask, reach out to us.
Is BarcodeStack really free?
Yes. The full editor — barcodes, QR codes, custom sizes, fonts, CSV batch printing, PDF/PNG export — is free with no watermarks and no account. The free tier is supported by ads; paid plans will only add extras like cloud saves and teams.
Which printers does it work with?
Any printer. Built-in presets cover Zebra, Rollo, and MUNBYN thermal printers, DYMO LabelWriter and Brother QL rolls, Niimbot/Phomemo portables, and Avery sheets for any inkjet or laser. You can also enter custom dimensions in inches or millimeters.
Do labels print at the right size?
The canvas is built at your printer's native resolution — a 4×6 thermal label is exactly 812 × 1218 pixels at 203 DPI — and PDFs export at exact physical dimensions. Print at 100% scale (never "fit to page") and test one label first.
Can I create retail barcodes like UPC and EAN?
Yes — we render UPC-A, EAN-13, Code 128, Code 39, ITF-14, Pharmacode, and QR codes with print-accurate sizing. One important note: we generate the barcode graphic; the numbers themselves must be licensed from GS1 if you sell in retail stores or marketplaces.
How does batch printing from a spreadsheet work?
Click Import Data, paste rows from Excel or Google Sheets (or upload a CSV), then put {{column}} placeholders in any text or barcode value. Every row becomes a label in one multi-page PDF — including N-up Avery sheets with a start-position offset. It's free and unlimited.
Can I print full Avery sheets?
Yes. Pick an Avery preset (5160, 5161, 5162, 5163, 5164, 5167, 5195, or the A4 L-series), design one label, and export the whole sheet — starting at any position so partially used sheets don't go to waste.
Is my data private?
The editor runs 100% in your browser. Designs, images, and spreadsheet data are processed client-side and never sent to our servers. Work-in-progress auto-saves to your browser's local storage, and you can save designs as files on your machine.
Do I need an account?
No. Open the editor and start designing. Accounts arrive with the Pro plan for people who want cloud saves and syncing — the free tier will keep working without one.
What's the catch?
The free editor shows ads (not yet, but that's the model). That's it — no locked features, no export watermarks, no trial timers. We'd rather you print great labels and tell another seller about us.
