How small can the barcode on a tag go?

Bar height goes down to 0.1 in, which is what the 2.2 × 0.5" jewelry tag needs. Width is the harder limit: dragging a barcode narrower re-renders it at a whole number of printer dots per module instead of squeezing the bars, so it steps down in jumps and bottoms out at one dot per module — about 0.005 in at 203 DPI. If a tag is refusing to scan, give the barcode more width before you give it more height.

Which barcode should a price tag carry?

Code 128 for an internal SKU — it takes letters, digits, and dashes at any length. Keep UPC-A and EAN-13 for numbers you licensed from GS1; the editor checks their check digit and flags a made-up one before you commit a whole shelf's worth of tags to the roll.

My prices print as 4.5 instead of $4.50 — why?

We read raw cell values so a typed UPC keeps every digit instead of arriving as 1.23457E+11, and the side effect is that a cell displaying $4.50 comes through as the number 4.5. Format the price column as text in your spreadsheet, or type the currency symbol and trailing zero into the cell itself.

Can I print these in bulk from a spreadsheet?

Import a local spreadsheet or paste private data, then put {{column}} placeholders in text or barcode values. Imports support up to 5,000 rows within file and cell limits; export large jobs in smaller ranges within the output limits. Use a Google Sheets link only for data already intended to be accessible to anyone with that link. Review the values and test a label before a batch.

How do I check the printed size?

Select the measured stock dimensions and your printer's actual resolution. Exported PDF dimensions follow your selection, but drivers, scaling and media feed affect the result. Print at 100% scale (Actual size), measure a sample and test-scan each barcode before a batch.
