How much text fits on a DYMO 30327 tab?

The 30327 is 87 × 14 mm — 3.4 × 0.55 in, or 1028 × 165 dots at 300 DPI. That is one strong line across a drawer, or a line plus a smaller category line under it. The S0722460 suspension-file label is tighter again at 50 × 12 mm, so keep that one to a single line.

Can I color-code categories?

Set a background color in the properties panel and save one design per category. It prints on Avery sheets through a laser or inkjet. It will not print on a DYMO roll — direct thermal printers only mark black, so on rolls you color-code with colored label stock instead.

Can one design cover both the DYMO tab and an Avery sheet?

A 3.4 × 0.55 in tab and a 2⅝ × 1 in Avery 5160 label are different shapes, so plan on re-placing the text once per size. Switching between them never rescales your artwork — both are 300 DPI, so what fits stays exactly the size and position you gave it, and anything that would hang off the new label is slid back inside as a block, which can shift a corner-anchored line out of its corner. Only when sliding isn't enough do you get a warning over the canvas with a Resize design to fit button; if anything on the label is locked, nothing moves at all and the warning asks you to unlock it first. Between presets at different resolutions the pixels mean a different physical size, so change Printer DPI before you switch.

Can I print these in bulk from a spreadsheet?

Import a local spreadsheet or paste private data, then put {{column}} placeholders in text or barcode values. Imports support up to 5,000 rows within file and cell limits; export large jobs in smaller ranges within the output limits. Use a Google Sheets link only for data already intended to be accessible to anyone with that link. Review the values and test a label before a batch.

How do I check the printed size?

Select the measured stock dimensions and your printer's actual resolution. Exported PDF dimensions follow your selection, but drivers, scaling and media feed affect the result. Print at 100% scale (Actual size), measure a sample and test-scan each barcode before a batch.
